Kanreki - Oriental 60th Birthday Card for a man

Did you know that according to the Chinese when you reach your 60th Birthday you enter into your second childhood? It's called Kanreki, so when a friend told me it was her Dads' 60th I decided an Oriental style card using the colour red (very lucky colour according to the Chinese)would be appropriate ...

I used printable accetate for the front window, the stencilled Koi carp (using Dreamweaver black paste and stencil) and for printing the proverb, which reads
At 60 you are reborn. At 70 you are but a child, at 80 you are merely a youth, and at 90 if the ancestors invite you into heaven ask them to wait until you are 100, and then you might consider it.The corner embellishments on the front, inside front and back page sentiment are made with rubber stamped images that are triple heat embossed to give the impression of that lovely laquering the Orientals did on their furniture. The font used is Kudasai. Other embellishments used were black tassels, enamelled beads, large gold brads and a Chinese coin.
Oh and I used faux gold leaf behind the Koi and Proverb.
So until the next project, take care and keep smiling :o)

2. DP from Artylicious Seasons Greetings CD (colour changed to suit)

3. Main image mounted on to white pearlescent card that was double edged with thin silver border peel offs.

4. Corners made with Cuttlebug die from white glitter paper and rhinestones added.

5. Blue organza ribbon with a Dress It Up crystal snowflake.

6.The sentiment is a rubber stamp from Kodomo Inc, stamped using Brilliance Mediterranean Blue ink pad.

Kept it simple as the picture is so delicate I didn't want to overwhelm it. Thanks for looking and enjoy your weekend.

Cuttlebug Christmas

Hello,
long time no see, been rather busy but here I am again with another Christmas card...

I bought this Cuttlebug folder back in March and thought it about time I used it. Once I embossed, I then went over the raised pattern with Art Glitter Glue (designer) and sprinkled with Sparkle N Sprinkle “Sparkling Snow” glitter. The sentiment is by Kodomo Inc, and was stamped with Brilliance Rocket Red ink pad. Both were then mounted onto red Silk Mirri card. The base card has two embossed lines on either side that was done using my Scor-Pal. All the white card is Stardream pearlescent white. Oh and lets not forget the mistake...the red ribbon. It's a mistake because I wanted the tails to run down the card, but I forgot and stuck the the Christmas tree on before I did the ribbon. Oh well never mind. My Dad liked the card and asked if I could do it with green glitter, so I'll be doing it again in green and maybe I'll remember to do the ribbon before I start sticking anything else down.
Anyway I'll be posting quite a few Christmas cards over the next few days as I'm going into mass production for my Dad. So until the next time...
Take care and keep smiling
