Fathers' Day 2018 - Rupert Bear Double Tri shutter card and Album

I know Fathers' Day is next Sunday but we're off on our jollidays tomorrow so I thought I'd post it now. I don't know if I mentioned it before (don't think I did) but my Dad has been suffering with Parkinsons disease for the past seven years and at the beginning of this year he was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. He's had a stent fitted to help with swallowing and after three emergency trips to the hospital for different infections he's finally back to his annoyingly mischievous self, hahahaha

 The box pictures were sourced from the web and hand coloured. The picture panels on the card were scanned from Rupert Bear annuals and cropped to size. Oh and in the picture of the middle panel the one with the TV) I put a picture of my Dad as a boy.

 I bought Rupert Bear postcards, first day stamps and bookmarks but I didn't have anything to put them in so I got my Zutter bind it all out and made an album. The front and back covers are made from 2mm grey board and covered with pictures cut from some very damaged (collectors wouldn't touch them) Rupert annuals I got from eBay and stuck them down and "varnished" them with matte Modge Podge. I made a plaid design on my computer and printed it in to 300gsm yellow card. I bought the plastic (acid free) sleeves to hold the postcards etc. The other pictures used were either sourced from the web or scanned from annuals. Nearly all the pictures can be found on my Pinterest.

PS. here's the template I used to make the double trifold shutter card

I made two of these and butted them together and using a piece of card the same size as the middle panel stuck one on each side (back and front) to make it a double card.

Fathers Day Fossil Box

This is the reason I made my Dad a dinosaur Father's Day card. I wanted to make a box for his (and my son's) fossil collection...

I know it's early but I've got so many projects on the go I wanted to get this done first before I forgot !!!

Father's Day Card - Steam Punk Exploding Box

I knew I wanted to attempt another Steam Punk card and thought it would be great for Father's Day, but as usual I wanted something a bit different, and thought I'd have a go at an exploding box, as I'd never made one before. Loved making it, so much so I will definitely be making one again....

Satin Mirri card - pewter and copper

Wooden Airplane and cogs are from Cog 'O' Two
Silhouette was hand cut from a picture sourced from the internet.
Papers are from - Prima Marketing Craftsman Collection "Mechanic" and Basic Grey Sugar Rush Collection. (The basic Grey paper was stamped by me)
And instead of a poem or such as a sentiment, I used the memories I have of my Dad when I was a child.

Art Deco Fathers Day Card

Finally got back to some crafting after giving myself some time off from my last effort. I thought I'd do something simple, thought Art Deco was the way to go. Simple my eye, I've never cut so many weird angles, and yes all those pieces are individually cut by hand, apart from the circle, that was a nestabilites die and the fany die cuts on the back of the card. I think I prefer this card to the Art Deco birthday card I made. Anyway here it is...

  I used Mirri card and satin Mirri card over a thick card (mirri card tends to curl). The sentiment is computer generated and are the lyrics from The Hollies "he ain't heavy, he's my brother" song though I substituted brother for father. The design on the the sentiments are a perfume bottle rubber stamp (Joanna Sheen made but no longer sells) but I only used the stopper part. The diamanté chain was also from Joanna Sheen again she no longer sells it. Some fine silver peel offs and a couple of square rhinestones. Fathers Day Airplane Card !!!

Thought I'd do something different for Fathers Day, and after having seen this airplane in the Magnolia Ink Magazine I couldn't think of anything better. The template is printed in the magazine but I bought the template from the lady who created it, Sandra Strijland. 

I used a thick card about 350gsm and then covered it with paper. To round the body of the plane without creasing it I would suggest using a small rolling pin or something similar. I also suggest only cutting the pieces out when you need them as you may find that some pieces may need adjusting to make them fit, as I did with the window and wing struts. Have in mind how you want to decorate it and decorate each piece as you make it.

The banner wasn't part of the template. The wheels were made with rubber tap washers and press studs.

My Dad now has it on his dressing table :o)

Vintage Fathers Day Card

Hello and welcome to my new card. It's Fathers Day so what better card to show you than the one I made for my Dad...

All papers used were made by me on the computer and printed on hessian embossed card..

The picture used on the front was sourced from the internet and is called La Scapigliata by Leonardo Da Vinci. Her hair is "highlighted" with very small gold stitches ( I apologise for my stitching. Sewing is not one of my strong points)

"DAD" was first stamped using Anna Griffin "Elegant Engraving Alphabet" clear stamps and again hand stitched and rhinestones added.

The hinge, lock and key were made using Tim Holtz Alterations Hardware Findings die, thick grey cardboard that was inked with Tim Holtz Distress inks - Frayed Burlap, Vintage photo and Firebrick red. Then they were inked with VersaMark ink and heat embossed with Tim Holtz Distress embossing powder Black soot. I used the die in my Cuttlebug using the sandwich - B plate, die (cutting side up), card then B plate again. I ran it through twice to make sure it went through the card.

The flourishes on the inside were made with Tim Holtz Alterations Elegant Flourishes die and hand stitched on.

The passage was printed on Jacquard Inkjet Silk, and the word love was again hand stitched. The font used is FranciscoLucas llana, a free font from abstract fonts.
